FOR ARCHITECTURAL PRACTICES · PILOT
Bring the CDM information, decisions and evidence behind your projects into a repeatable practice workflow.
Small practices often manage CDM work alongside drawings, client emails and consultant information. When several projects move at once, an unresolved survey question or a design review can become difficult to follow.
CDMlogic gives your team a shared project workspace for client duties, appointments, pre-construction information, design risks, actions and supporting evidence. The purpose is to help the next person understand what was considered, what remains open and where the supporting information lives.

Understanding the contractor strategy helps identify the dutyholder arrangements to review.
CDM stands for Construction (Design and Management). Under CDM 2015, an architectural practice carrying out design work needs to consider its designer duties: understanding the relevant information, addressing foreseeable risks through design and communicating the information others need.
The CDM Principal Designer role adds coordination responsibilities during the pre-construction phase. Being the architect does not, by itself, establish the project’s appointment arrangements. Record the actual role and scope, and distinguish it from the Building Regulations Principal Designer role in England. Our guide to the two Principal Designer roles explains the distinction.

Track PCI items with owners, review dates and evidence. Keep questions about the scope or relevance of a survey visible before a design decision depends on it.
Record foreseeable hazards, affected people, design decisions and residual information. Attach relevant files and review entries when the design changes.
An existing drawing does not confirm the structure or services in the area being altered. The team records the information gap, assigns responsibility for obtaining suitable evidence and keeps the affected review open. Once the information has been assessed, the design risk entry records the decision and the information that needs communicating.
This is a fictional workflow illustration. The survey scope, design assessment and construction arrangements depend on the real project. See the PCI checklist guide and worked design risk register example for ways to structure the record.
A spreadsheet can be a sensible starting point for one person. CDMlogic becomes useful when colleagues need to review the same records, follow actions, retain evidence and hand a project over without reconstructing its history from separate folders.
Workspace roles include owner, admin, editor and viewer. Project reports and structured CSV and JSON exports support review outside the workspace. Evidence uploads currently support PDF, PNG and JPEG files up to 4 MiB each.
An architect may carry out designer duties and, where applicable, act as the CDM Principal Designer. The project arrangements, appointment and competence need their own review. Read about CDM Principal Designer coordination records.
