REGULATORY SCOPE

Clear about the duties. Clear about the limits.

CDMlogic supports a management process. Statutory responsibilities remain with the people and organisations carrying out the work.

CDM 2015: the current core workflow

The core product is organised around the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 in Great Britain. It supports recording client duties information, appointment arrangements, pre-construction information, design risk coordination, construction interfaces and Health & Safety File activity.

Read HSE’s dutyholder overview and the CDM 2015 legislation. Northern Ireland and other jurisdictions need their own applicable rules considered.

Building Regulations: a separate regime

England’s Building Regulations dutyholder requirements have a different purpose from CDM health and safety duties. A CDM Principal Designer appointment should not be treated as automatically satisfying a Building Regulations Principal Designer appointment.

Current original England Building Regulations templates are drafts for review and adaptation. They do not amount to a complete Building Regulations, higher-risk building or golden thread management system. See the Building Safety Regulator’s guidance for England.

What the software does not determine

Workflow indicators do not certify legal compliance, competence, the validity of an appointment or the adequacy of a design. Recording an action does not itself discharge a duty. Users must check the project circumstances and obtain suitable expertise where required.

Original material and official sources

CDMlogic’s original guides and templates are separate from official publications. The product is not accredited or endorsed by HSE, RIBA or the Building Safety Regulator. Links to official guidance are provided to help users check the underlying requirements.
